Our Rio Balsa river rafting experience is ideal for everyone ages 8 to 108. This trip is perfect for families, beginners, nature enthusiasts, and outdoor lovers alike. During the Balsa river rafting journey, participants will navigate approximately 25 rapids over about 2 hours on the water. The trip features gentle to moderate Class 2 and 3 rapids as you raft through 11 km of Costa Rica’s breathtaking biodiversity. As you paddle along the scenic river, watch for wildlife such as toucans, kingfishers, herons, and even howler monkeys and sloths. A traditional Costa Rican lunch will be served post-trip. You depart daily from your La Fortuna hotel at 10:00 AM and return around 3:30 PM.

Join us on the ultimate Costa Rican whitewater rafting adventure! We start the trip on the Class 4 section of the Sarapiqui River through a deep and remote gorge featuring large drops, numerous bolder obstacles, and steep gradients. During the two hours of adrenaline pumping rapids we will take breaks to rest and enjoy our surroundings of the incredible forest environment teeming with birds and wildlife. This trip is tailored for adventurous first-timers and experienced rafters with a minimum age of 15. Our bi-lingual guides with extensive experience will ensure your safety and comfort as you raft through over 25 epic rapids. Highlights include challenging rapids like “Morning Coffee,” “Dos Locos,” and “Terminator” on this exhilarating 13 km stretch. A traditional Costa Rican lunch will be served post-trip. We depart from La Fortuna daily at 8:00 AM and return around 2:00 PM.
